Playing but not updating

So I have been playing but have not updated. So I decided to change that, and here is a quick update between play sessions.

I am now at 100 extraction and I bought the 199 hat that lets me see the nodes, I still have to do the last 2 Krall quests will try to get them done soon. So I can move on to Elthen.

I have completed my stigma quest. I plan on writing up a post about the different stigma's and which ones I think are good. Then when I hit 50 I will take another look at the stigma's to see if my impressions have changed.

I think it is cool that NCsoft has strung this nice little story about how you are the only Daeva who is part of this secret legion and only a few people know about it. Hence being secret. I do find it funny that every other player character is also the commander of the secret legion. But that is the joy of playing a MMO you are not a unique butterfly and no matter how many times you kill bubblegut he will still be back in 5 minutes.

I wandered into Eltnen the other day from Verteron. I walked right past the fortress, so I was wandering around for about half an hour. Before I decided to look online and see where the main town was so I could head to Sanctum.

I looked at the mug shots I took of my self so people can view my character, but there was some strange branch thing right behind my head. So the next time I remember to take a shot I will be looking where I put my head.

Ding! Ding!

Not only did I manage to get to level 20 but I also got to level 21. I ran 3 Krall groups, so now I have two quests left which are Seal the Abyss, and Krall Conspiracy.

I also managed to finish up Cantans Coast, so I am now almost done Verteron.

Since I was busy with Krall groups, I did not even get a chance to check out the stigma skill quest. Will be doing that soon.

I have some quests that are taking me to Eltnen, so I think that is where I am supposed to go next. I do not quite know when I am supposed to go to the PvE zone of Theobomos. I am sure I will get a quest or something to tell me, or some NPC mention that I should go there when I don't want to get ganked.
I was only in one group who killed Kraka. That is a pretty tough fight, atleast it was for our group who I believe was Spirtmaster, Ranger, Ranger, Assassin, Assassin, and Me. Near the end he used this fire nova and that took 3 of use out, but the other two managed to burn him down, so we won.

Overall the group experience was pretty well. I only left one group, but that was because the Templar was using a 2 hander to tank, and it was time for me to make some dinner.

I also was able to get some nice screen shots of my self so be looking for those come the next couple of days.

I only spent a little time in Sanctum, but I heard the good Christmas songs that they where playing. I will be looking at the event hopefully tomorrow. If I get a chance I will also write up a little how to for those of you like me that have not completed it yet. You have until Wednesday at when ever NCsoft decides to finish the event.

Hello faithful blog readers,

I hope your holidays went well and you did not eat to much turkey.

I am now back home so I will either be playing Aion tonight, or the upcoming week depending on how tired I am, and how much work my professors throw at me.

I will be blogging about all the news that I missed over the holidays in the next week or so.

New Patch

There was a new patch on Thursday December 17th. Its patch number is 1.5.1.7 and the name I have come up with for it is Happy Solorius Festival. This is not a new content patch but just a bug fix patch. The full patch notes are after the break. Some things that I think are worth mentioning are:

  Holiday Event (The Solorius Festival)
     Holiday NPC’s, Cheerful Decorations, and Festive Music located in both major cities
     Special Vendor NPC’s that sell party favors for all to use
Searching items in the Auction House is no longer case sensitive

Searching for other players is no longer case sensitive

Spiritmaster Pets now have the ability to fly

This is the Christmas event, I wish I could be able to play and tell you all about it. But no Aion when I am home for the holidays.

Auction house and player searching will become easier. Since now if you are searching for your friend Bob and his exact name is bOb then he can be found.

It also means that players can become more lazy when searching for players and items in the broker.

Spiritmaster Pets now have the ability to fly. I have not played a spirit master, but I can see if your pet can not fly then they would not be able to follow you in to aerial battle.

Corrected the skill description and buff tooltip for “Dauntless Spirit I” to correct values

Fixed NPC’s Buri in Primum Landing and NPC Asellus in Teminon Landing inside of the Abyss from asking players to submit a petition

Fixed some skill system messages that incorrectly identified who was casting what on whom

Spiritmaster Pets now have the ability to fly

Hair Dyes will no longer reset after 48 hours or future server restarts

Fortress Sieges

Fortress Guardian Deity Generals disappear after 30 minutes on their own spawn timer
       If your race destroys the guardian within the 30-minute timer, then your faction gets the fort
     If your race successfully defends the guardian within the 30-minute timer, then you succeed in defending the fort
     Divine Fortress Guardian Deity Generals spawns last 2 hours as usual

  Players rewarded defending any fort
     Rewards for defending a fortress are not limited to legion members only anymore
     Depending on your contribution during defense, you will earn the rewards that will be delivered via mail right after the siege ends

Contribution Changes
     Lowered the contribution you get from killing opposing PCs during sieges
       Contributions from doing other things (killing NPCs, Fort gates, Fort guardians) remain the same

KNOWN ISSUE

Siege weapons cannot be activated after being deployed. We’re currently working on a fix but have no set ETA at this time.

Legion Emblems may reset after a server restart

So I am catching a plane at 9:20am today. To go back home for the holidays. I will not have access to Aion at home which will make me sad. Especially come the coming weekends when there is double experience. Why does NCSoft have to do double experience for the three weekends over the Christmas break. I can see this for the teenagers who are out of school, but teenagers do not have school on the weekends either. They should of done something like what WoW did with 3.3.

For those of you that do not know. World of Warcraft just released patch 3.3. This lets the players kill Arthas the big bad guy of the current expansion. He is located in a 10/25 man raid with 13 other bosses I believe. To keep people just burning through the content and then having to release more content before, the next expansion they have put in a gating system. On the day of the patch a wing opened. In 28 days from the release of the patch the 2nd wing will open. This allows guilds two weeks of raiding before a couple of weeks break for the holidays. I can imagine that it will really take the pressure off some guilds over the holiday break.

In that double experience post it mentions that NCSoft wants to do a double experience weekend about once a month. I think this is a very good thing. Even if once a month you have an alt and that is all you play on that weekend for that double experience.

The Solorius Festival is also happening during the holiday break. I have not read much into what is happening, for all I know it could have started. But I believe I heard there was a patch coming today or tomorrow or some time close to now that will bring in the Solorius Festival. I have not heard when the event will come to a close but hopefully I will be able to play it.

Well it looks like I lied in my previous post. I have just quit Aion after a 3 hour session.

To learn more about what happened in those three hours click read more. Here is a brief summary of what happened: leveled, almost finished Verteron quests, grouped up for Krall.

I have almost completed all of the Verteron quests. I have to finish up by the observatory, and I have that last Krall quest to do.

I was able to get a group for the other Krall quests it was a pretty good group. The group started out with a Gladiator, Chanter, Chanter, Sorcerer, Templar, and Me.It could of gone better though. For starters I was having some lag problems my ping would jump from its regular 255 to 2000. This made it very hard to heal at times. The tank died once I said I was sorry and he said no problem, we ressed him and then he disconnected and never came back on. So ignore list for him, he will not be using my healing again. We replaced him with another Sorcerer. The Glad tanked and did a very good job at it.

If you play on Vaizel, just so you know the Templars name was Merodon. Now it could be that he had completed all the Krall Quests, and did not want to stick around any more. But it would of been nice for him to say that he was leaving instead of just Alt-F4ing his way out of a good bye.

Just before Ziloota the Seer.The Glad died and got mad at the two chanters since they where not healing. He told them that if another person dies they will both be kicked from the group. One of the chanters did not like that, complained about my healing. Which I had told them before that I had lag and was hitting my keys trying to get something to work. So that chanter left. I just thought how lame that guy was, we are maybe 3 pulls away from Ziloota and instead of not saying anything he leaves. So he is now going to have to find another group just to finish the last part of the quest.

After he left we just continued on and did not have any more problems until we wiped just inside Kraka's Den. So we called it quits and went our different paths. I turned in my completed quests and logged off.

What I found out about this group was that some Chanters do not like to heal. Which seems strange to me. They have healing spells, they can see the tank going down. Why not throw a quick heal on the tank so he doesn't die. I am not saying they have to heal full time, but the occasional heal just so the cleric can maybe heal that dps that decided to pull off the tank.This would especially help if your tank is not a Templar.

Something else I found out that I did not know about before was the instance interface. It will tell you what levels all the instances are and how long you have to wait until you can enter them. I assume this means that there is a cool down on the instances.

While grouping for the Krall quests I dinged level 19. I did not go get my level 19 skills yet but when I do I will post about it, and what I think of them. So I ended the night with half way to 20, and I can not wait to log back in and play some more.

Exam Update

So sorry about not being to update much this past week or the weeks coming.

I wrote my first exam yesterday and have another on Monday and my last one on Wednesday.

I will hopefully play Wednesday night and have something to blog about.

Getting Caught Up

Hello Blog Readers,

I just played Aion for about an hour and it was very productive. I got my Extract Vitality up to level 78 so I believe I can extract anything I can find at my level now. I gained half a level of experience.

I also helped a newbie ranger named Amatheia. We killed the evil monster Bubblegut. He had lost his potions that removed his shield so it was long drawn out battle.

While raising my extract vitality skill I remembered I have not done anything with professions. Which must be why I am so rich right now. Ha ha 170k

I have finals coming up so either there will be a lot of blog posts or there will about normal blog posts.

Krall Group

I just finished my first Krall Group.

I was just selling some items when I see in LFG chat that some group needed a tank and healer. I had 50 minutes before my class so I let them know that I am free and we should get going. We decided roll with out a Templar. It worked fairly well, we only died a couple of times.

Since I was not expecting to start Krall quests for awhile I did not have many of the quests. But I did have the Krall Marks and the holy idol one.

I received 4 bars of xp and 25/50 Krall Marks, and completed the holy idol one.

The group was made up of Kurora a Gladiator, Lavatein a Ranger, and Riss an Assissin.

Kurora tanked and did a very good job.

They all where cool. So I added them to my friends list and hopefully we can all group together some time.

The Difference of One Level

So I am at the end of level 17 got 4 bars to go. I have finished the quests in the Altima Ridge area. So I move on to Miraju's Holy Ground. I fly up to the top of the shrine only to find out I need to be level 18 to get the quests. So I fly back down to the ground and begin to kill. It is slow at first and as the kills begin to get longer, and I begin to get sleepier. I begin to lose a lot more health. I am thankful that Radiant Cure heals for so much since with out it I would have died a lot more.

My bags are filling up so I decide to kill my way back to Pilgrims Respite. As soon as I get out of the holy ground I begin to kill faster. I also begin to use Radiant Cure less, and can get away with just a Light Of Rejuvenation. The mob level only dropped by one so instead of killing level 18 mobs all the time. I was killing level 17 mobs most of the time with the occasional level 18 Broken Rock Kalgolem. I was able to kill these with using a heal mid fight most of the time.

So what did I learn. If I kill mobs my own level I kill them fast and I have fewer close calls, and die less.

Aion Vision Trailer

Well I am back from taking a weekend away from school and my computer. I now have a ton of stuff to do. So what do I do instead. I check the Aion main page and see this. The most awesome thing I have seen in awhile. For those of you that do not know what I am talking about. NCSoft released a teaser trailer showing off some of the stuff that is going to be coming to the game who knows when . After the Break I will tell you about what I think of it, and what it means for Atreia .

First thing I have to say is my armor is so shinny that I think I could blind myself.

So first up we are shown a graphics upgrade. It looks awesome. Maybe a bit to awesome. If they are able to upgrade the graphics with out drastically decreasing fps or making me buy a new video card then go for it.

It finally looks like we will be able to see those flying whale things up close.We might even be able to be killed by them

The weather effects look awesome. Having it rain and then slowly fill up a pool you can swim in. Or it slowly snowing and then you begin to see the snow on the ground and eventually it becomes a winter wonderland of death. I hope we leave foot steps in the snow.

I can not wait to swim even though it isn't very realistic.For us to swim with armor on. But we are playing a video game where people can sprout wings when ever they want. So I do not care to much about realism

On the updated spell graphics. As long as it does not affect my frame rates, and Cerics get updated as well I will be quite happy.If not I will be disappointed

I do not know if there are those big monsters in the game right now, but they look kinda big, and deadly. I do not think I will be sticking around if I see one of those pop out of the ground. Unless of course I am with a tank and some dps friends.

The trailer then goes on to show an underwater zone. Looks cool as long as NCSoft can get underwater movement and combat working good. The one thing I hated about wow from launch was attacking underwater. I hated how the animation of my character would be standing in the water while casting. It really bugged me that it would switch to an idle swimming animation and then as soon as I would cast a spell I would stand in the water.

Player housing. It will really depend on how they implement it to how I will react about it. I right now see it as a giant Kinah sink.

Mounts. The mounting system looks awesome. Lets knock this bird over and then jump on it and ride it around. Since from the video it looks like Sanctum we might be getting mounts that last longer and maybe even are permanent items we can buy. As long as we do not turn into a wow situation where I have to use a mount or else I feel like I am wasting time.

Pulse Pounding Battles.I can not tell from the video what exactly this is. It could just be a revamp of the combat system. Or what I think it could be and sounds super cool is a fighting arena thing like mortal kombat or soul calibur. I sure hope it is fun what ever it is.

It looks like we are getting maybe a battleground? Or another giant PvP zone? What ever it is. It sure looks epic. Giant mountain giants that have been summoned by spirit masters. They are just destroying a settlement with the help of blimps and Elyos players. Some Asmodians are defending the incoming Eloys with cannons. It looks fun. I am curious why the Elyos would be attacking the settlement in such force, and where this settlement is.

I hope some of this will be coming in the next couple of months. And if not at least the next expansion. Speaking of which the game has just celebrated its one month in North America. It could be a bit early to be teasing us, but that could just be because I am still fairly newb at Aion and have not even seen half of the game.

Overall the video leaves me for wanting more. To log in and play. And not do my homework.

A look at the upcoming 1.5.1.0 patch and what it means for Clerics and Aion in general

Items
Slightly increased the EXP gained from gathering and crafting.

A slight buff I do no foresee this changing the leveling experience very much

When you extract Aether, there’s a chance that Aether Poison Gas will infiltrate your body. The poison blocks gathering for a certain period of time unless you detoxify the poison.
Once you are poisoned the only way to detoxify yourself is to utter the "Cleansing Word.”

To utter the Cleansing Word, type the randomly given letters and numbers within the designated time.

When you utter the Word, you get three chances to enter the correct letter/number sequence. If you fail three times, Vitality Extracting and Aether Extracting are prohibited.

When you have Aether Poison Gas in your body, you can still move and activate other abilities, so move to a safe place before you utter the Cleansing Word.

This is a nerf
It is mostly against bots though, since I do not think a bot would be able to enter in the Cleansing Word
So for the non botting human, this will just slow down aether extraction and be a pain in the ass if they manage to screw up three times in a row
I will be interested to find out if when you fail three times and Vitality Extracting and Aether Extracting are prohibited. If it is a debuff, or if it is until you log out. Since both would be very annoying but the log out would be easiest on the bots IMO

Cleric Skills
Increased the damage inflicted by Cleric’s ‘Thunderbolts’ skill.

Straight Buff, I just hope we do not have to be nerfed later because of it

Resolved the issue of the cooldown time not being seen clearly when using Cleric’s ‘Ripple of Purification’ skill.

Bug Fix I do not have this skill yet. So I do not foresee this being more than a bug fix

Resolved the problem of abnormal mental conditions not being removed by using Cleric’s ‘Splendor of Purification’ skill

Bug Fix I do not have this skill yet. I think this could of been very annoying

Character
Slightly reduced the EXP penalty due to the difference in the levels of group members when in a Group or Force

It will be interesting to see how much it has been reduced by.
Hopefully this will make grouping with players a couple of levels above you and a couple of levels below you more beneficial

UI
The search system of the Broker window is now more convenient.
   - When searching for an item in the list tab, you can set options such as “Include Keyword” and “Match Keyword.”
   - When you select Include Keyword, the system searches for items that include the keyword. Match Keyword searches for the item that directly corresponds to the keyword.
   - The item name automatically appears in the search window when you right-click while opening the list tab, or left-click while holding down the key.
   - The item is registered when you right-click on the desired item while opening the Quantity tab.

All the changes making the Broker better
The change that I do not see is making the Broker non case sensitive
These changes will go along way to making the Broker more useable

Characters under Level 5 can no longer use the Search function on the Find Buddy window

An Anti spam change
Hopefully will cut down on the gold spam. Which I have received a lot less of. Since release.

Its Patch day

Downloading the patch now. Will update the post when it is done and what I think of the new patch

11:34: So far no problems with the patch. I have not seemed to have any of the problems I saw in the comments to the news post

11:47: Patch is done downloading and installing

11:51: Just logged in checking stability

11:52: Checking ping

11:56: Average ping 303.8 Lowest: 172 Highest: 406. This is normal for me.

It is safe to say that the servers are doing alright with the new patch and maintenance was a success. Will have to wait for tonight during peak hours, to see what it is like.

I am a bit under the weather which is why I have not posted anything new since Saturday. I have some assignments and stuff due this week. But once I feel good enough to do that I shall be playing Aion and updating the blog a lot more.

Dukaki Amulet

I had recieved my first Dukaki Amulet for the quest Marmeia's Krall Research. In just random killings, I go and finish up the other quests that I have to do at the Dukaki settlement and area. I have farmed for the last hour and a half to get the last Dukaki Amulet. It just dropped and I am so happy I can move on now. :)

Why should you read my blog?

Well I am a level 15 Elyos Cleric on [US]Vaizel. My Current guild is Seventh Legion of Elyos. Which is made up of a bunch of friends from previous games.

This blog will be for my observations about Aion and the Cleric class.

After the Break you learn about me!

A little about my self. I am 3rd year university student, studying Computer Science. I am from Canada. I started playing mmo's with WoW open beta almost 5 years ago. When I quit wow last august I had a 80 Priest and a 70 Priest both of which I leveled Holy. Before Aion came out my friends and I decided to see what classes we would be. Since no one was going to be a Sorc and the people I normaly quest with where going Templer and Cleric I decided to go Sorc. I got my Sorc to the Krall quests in Verteron, where I began to do the group quests. I found it hard to dps after the many years of healing. So after the group I created the priest, hit level 10 choose Cleric, and have not looked back.
